چکیده
Bone loss leads to increase risk of fractures in renal transplantation. The aim this study was analyse the relationship between bone densitometry (DXA) findings, histomorphometry and bone-related molecules 1-year after We performed a cross-sectional de novo transplanted patients that agreed perform biopsy DXA examination 1 year All underwent laboratory evaluation, biopsy, cardiac CT 67 were included, 16 had normal examination, 18 classified as having osteoporosis by DXA. Correlations mineral density T-scores total femur femoral neck ones best correlated with volume assessed biopsy. sensitivity for diagnosis 47.0%, specificity 81.2%. positive predictive value 50.0%, negative (NPV) 80.0%. parameters also klotho sclerostin serum levels. In population, excluded presence osteoporosis, helping identifying would not benefit from therapy. Overall, well measured

BONE DENSITOMETRY OF MENOPAUSAL WOMEN IN TEHRAN
Using a cluster sampling method, a group of menopausal women from three geographic areas in Tehran were asked to participate in the study. Demographic data was obtained using a questionnaire. Subjects were than referred to perform bone mass densitometry (BMD). The relationship between various variables (i.e. age of menarche, number of years of endogenous estrogen exposure, ... ) with minera...
متن کاملEffect of 17beta-estradiol or alendronate on the bone densitometry, bone histomorphometry and bone metabolism of ovariectomized rats.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of 17beta-estradiol or alendronate in preventing bone loss in 3-month-old ovariectomized Wistar rats. One group underwent sham ovariectomy (control, N = 10), and the remaining three underwent double ovariectomy. One ovariectomized group did not receive any treatment (OVX, N = 12). A second received subcutaneous 17beta-estradiol at a ...
متن کاملSingle photon bone densitometry in hemodialysis patients.
Renal osteodystrophy is a common finding in patients with renal insufficiency. The maximum of its intensity is found in hemodialysis patients. Bone densitometry is so far the best method for non-invasive assessment of the extent of the illness. Some densitometric studies in hemodialysis patients have already been published but their results differ in prevalence and intensity of renal osteodystr...
متن کامل[Bone densitometry in patients with rheumatoid arthritis].
Osteoporosis (OP) is a frequent complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and longitudinal studies have documented increased rate of bone loss in RA patients. To determine the frequency of low bone mass as well as the influence of disease duration and corticosteroid use on bone mass in patients with RA, 88 patients with RA and 112 age matched controls were studied. Bone densitometry was perform...
متن کاملHistomorphometry of bone.
This review of the histomorphometry of bone outlines methods of biopsy and processing of specimens in the laboratory, the basic principles of morphometry, and the measurements made in order to obtain estimates of the proportional volumes and surfaces occupied by different components of bone. Variability such as that between methods, observers and laboratories is discussed and a brief outline of...
